Our visiting Swiss instructor this season is Martina Zumstein.
HI FROM MARTINA
Hi, my name is Martina.
I grew up in Lungern, that’s a small
village in Central Switzerland. I had a
wonderful childhood on my parents’ farm
in between the mountains.
My four older siblings learnt me how
to ski and from then I was up on the
mountain every possible day. After the
regular school, I made an apprenticeship
to be a baker.
When I was 20 years old I spent my
first season ski teaching in Davos. At first
I wanted to work there as a ski instructor
for just one year, but I could not stop with
this passion because I loved it very much.
Meanwhile I have already spent the 10th
season there.
For a few years I have been a member of
the Swiss Snow Sports Education Pool and
acted a couple of times per season as an
examiner for new instructors who wanted
to achieve the Swiss Kids Instructor
Certificate.
In 2009 I spent a season in New Zealand.
I was working at Cardrona on the South
Island.
At this time I fell in love with this
wonderful country and I wanted to come
back as soon as possible. In June 2015 I
will finish my studies in social work, the
perfect time to make this wish come true.
I heard a lot about RSC and within my
time in New Zealand I was travelling
together with Ueli. He showed me Mt
Ruapehu and the Lodge in springtime,
and I got to know some of the members.
All this makes me feel very happy about
getting the opportunity to work for RSC.
I am looking forward to meeting you and
spend some time together on the slopes or
in the Lodge.
See you soon.
