Automated Duty Roster

hello
Date (DD/MM/YYYY):
Building:

When a fire alarm sounds you need to:

1)    Ensure Building has been evacuated. Check for fire.

2)    At top of stairs find the FIRE PANEL BOX

3)    Check the zone that has triggered the alarm.
This will show on the fire panel as a glowing orange button.

4)    Ask members to move away from that area towards fire exits.

5)    Silence alarm by turning the key in the top right corner to the right, labelled SILENCE ALARMS.  There will be a low beeping sound indicting the panel is not in the ready position.

6)    Remove key(s) and open panel door.

7)    Now push the BCO (Bell Cut Off) switch down to disable alarm.

8)    To reset the alarm (once the building has been checked and the smoke detector activating the alarm has been cleaned), push the silver button labelled reset.

9)    Close panel door and lock. Turn silence alarm key to left (in line with black lines) to activate alarm system.

(There should be no beeping and the green normal button should be glowing)

Thanks so much for agreeing to be a building leader during your stay. It's a great way to contribute to the smooth running of the club.

Please familiarise yourself with the notes below. There is also a hard copy of all the documents in the building leaders folder in each building.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

As a building leader, you have complete authority to act on behalf of the Club in its best interests. We depend on you to maintain leadership throughout your time as a building leader.

  • Make sure everyone is aware that this is a smoke-free building.
  • Alcohol can only be consumed in the Lounge and Library.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety / Fire Talk is given adequately
  • Check allocated duties are completed
  • Ensure that an acceptable standard of behaviour is maintained
  • Cooperate with the cook and ski instructor (if in residence)
  • Act on emergency matters
  • Aim to help members enjoy their time at the mountain. E.g. for long periods of a blizzard or closed mountain conditions, try to get someone to help organise some activities.)
  • We ask you to complete a confidential report at the end of your stay to allow the committee to keep on top of any recurring issues.

FOUR MAIN TASKS

1. WELCOME TALK

Give a talk to introduce yourself, the chef (and the instructor if at the Lodge). Find out who is new and if there are any medical professionals. Remind members to check their duties. This welcome talk lets the members know who to come to for queries or problems, and for advice and information.

2. HEALTH AND SAFETY / FIRE TALK

This can be delegated to another experienced member. There are bullet point ideas that you can use, for a more extended H&S talk, that extends beyond the main fire prevention and procedures that we usually hear.

3.  DUTY ROSTER

This can also be delegated (for example in the school holidays or if the building is particularly full). These are suggestions for how to go about the duties:

  1. Use the automated allocation system. This can be found under 'Automated Duty Roster' in the menu.
  2. Allocate duties by bunk room. For example; bunk room 1 does dinner dishes, 2 does breakfast prep, 3 does breakfast dishes, 4 does vacuuming and bathrooms ...
  3. When low numbers, ask residents to put their own bunk number onto the duty they prefer (making sure the essentials are covered such as dishes!)

4. LEADER'S REPORT

This can be found in the menu and can be completed online in a few minutes. It is important for us to have the H&S checks made to comply with the new H&S rules. Any defects need to be noted so we can fix them asap. The office would like to note any irregularities with members bookings so we can follow up payments.

  • Any unsuitable behaviour should be reported.
  • On top of the four main tasks, we also require the building leader to report any Incidents / Near Miss / Hazards / Accidents. Please use this incident report.
